Grevillea Outback Sunrise is a marvelous bird-attracting shrub with vibrant green foliage and striking yellow flowers with bright red styles blooming all year round. This grevillea is a great addition to native gardens, mixed garden beds, and superb for creating an informal screen. Lightly prune to maintain a dense, compact habit for optimal blooming, and apply a slow-release native fertiliser every 6-12 months.

Banksia caleyi, commonly known as Red Lantern Banksia, is a hardy, bushy evergreen shrub prized for its bold form and striking floral display. Endemic to a narrow coastal strip between Albany and Esperance in Western Australia, this spectacular banksia produces dramatic reddish-maroon, inverted flower spikes from spring through summer. The nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for birds and insects, adding life and movement to the landscape. It features thick, leathery, glossy green foliage that provides year-round structure and contrast in the garden. Pruning after flowering encourages dense regrowth and helps maintain a compact, tidy habit. Red Lantern Banksia is well suited to native gardens, general landscaping, mass plantings, embankments, and can also be grown successfully in large pots and containers.

Platycerium superbum, or Staghorn Fern, is an evergreen, epiphytic fern with large, upright, rounded to kidney-shaped, green fronds and long, wedge-shaped, forked, leathery, bright green fertile fronds. The fern resembles a collection of antlers (hence the name), that grow from a central crown or nest of fronds. This crown collects leaf litter and dead insects, which feed the plant. The staghorn is one of the most prominent and stunning features of our native rainforest. Protect from drying winds and do not overwater your fern. Feed with a liquid fertilizer during the warmer months.

Conditions: It is important to give your fern a bright spot in filtered sunlight, they do not like dense shade but will appreciate some humidity. Prefers sub-tropical and tropical climates.

Four seasons of interest are yours with the adaptable Hakea salicifolia. Fresh, burnt-orange new growth lights up the plant in spring, followed by long, slender green leaves that resemble a graceful eucalyptus. Rust-red bark and intriguing woody seedpods add texture year-round—perfect for floristry—and the dense, bushy branching provides excellent shelter for native birds. In late winter and spring, when colour is most welcome in the garden, the stems burst into masses of white, curly flowers tucked neatly along the branches, attracting bees, birds and other beneficial pollinators. One of the outstanding ferns for the garden is Asplenium australasicum - Crow's Nest Fern. If you would like to create a tropical or jungle look, this is the plant for you. Asplenium australasicum sends out large fronds from a central point, making a superb nest-shaped plant - hence the name. They make excellent feature plants in the garden in a shaded rockery or beneath large trees. The large bold foliage makes this an excellent structural plant and a mature clump can be dramatic addition to the garden. Being versatile, they can grow in trees, on rocks, in containers as well as in well-drained, moist soil. Fertilize with a liquid seaweed fertilizer in spring and again in late summer. A slow-release type in spring could also be used. Plants should be kept moist.

Anigozanthos Bush Zest is a striking kangaroo paw with an upright habit and vibrant colour. This Australian native perennial features dark green foliage and produces masses of tubular, long-lasting bright citrus-yellow flowers on tall stems from spring through summer, with the occasional bloom appearing in autumn. Bush Zest is perfect for rockeries, native gardens, general landscaping, mass plantings, or pots, bringing bright colour and a real Aussie feel to the garden. To keep it looking its best, apply a native slow-release fertiliser two to three times a year and remove spent flower spikes to encourage more blooms.
