An absolute ripper of a shrub, Leptospermum Piccolo is an extremely hardy Australian native. This colourful and compact shrub is a great addition to courtyards and small gardens as it is positively smothered in crimson-coloured flowers during spring. The blooms attract a wide variety of native insects, which in turn, attract native birds and other wildlife. Light pruning will keep it compact and increase the flower display, and feed with a slow-release native fertiliser in spring or late summer. As with most tea trees, Piccolo is a terrific fast-growing screening plant with its naturally dense growth habit.

Callistemon Purple Cloud is a beautifully shaped Australian native shrub known for its vibrant purple bottlebrush flowers that appear from spring through summer. Closely related to callistemon, Kunzea Persian Pink is a handsome evergreen shrub prized for its masses of soft pink, bottlebrush-style blooms. Philotheca Winter Rouge, commonly known as Wax Flower or Eriostemon, is a charming, compact shrub prized for its beauty and fragrance. Also known as Midgen Berry or Sand Berry, Austromyrtus dulcis Midyim Berry is one of the most delicious native bush tucker plants—often compared to the blueberry for its sweet, tangy flavour and speckled appearance. Small, starry white flowers appear in early summer, followed by masses of white berries dotted with purple specks from late summer into early autumn. The berries can be enjoyed fresh, or used in pies, jams, and preserves. Midyim Berry forms a dense evergreen shrub with new bronze to burgundy foliage maturing to rich green. It grows up to 2 m high but can easily be kept smaller, making it ideal for home gardens, edible hedges, and narrow borders. Hardy and low-maintenance, it is rarely troubled by pests or diseases, performing well in full sun to part shade.

Syzygium Resilience is a fast-growing, compact lilly pilly prized for its dense, tightly packed foliage and excellent resilience in a range of garden conditions. New growth emerges in attractive reddish-bronze tones before maturing to fresh pale green, creating year-round colour and interest. In spring, clusters of fluffy creamy-white flowers attract bees, butterflies and birds, followed by edible berries. Ideal for hedging, screening, topiary and bonsai, this versatile Australian native responds well to pruning and forms a neat, lush display with minimal maintenance.

Callistemon Taree Pink is an easy-care native with a compact habit, fresh lime-green foliage and spectacular, brilliant pink bottle-brush flowers. Flowers appear year-round with a heavy flush during spring. Like most callistemon, they attract nectar-feeding birds and insects to your garden. Prune after flowering to promote another flush of colour and feed with a slow-release native fertiliser yearly.

Soil: Moist, well-drained soils are best.
Conditions: Choose a sunny location though a little shade throughout the day will be well tolerated - too much shade will encourage it to become sparse and rangy. Drought, frost and coastal tolerant.
