An absolute ripper of a shrub, Leptospermum Piccolo is an extremely hardy Australian native. This colourful and compact shrub is a great addition to courtyards and small gardens as it is positively smothered in crimson-coloured flowers during spring. The blooms attract a wide variety of native insects, which in turn, attract native birds and other wildlife. Light pruning will keep it compact and increase the flower display, and feed with a slow-release native fertiliser in spring or late summer. As with most Tea Trees, Piccolo is a terrific fast-growing screening plant with its naturally dense growth habit.

Grevillea Dorothy Gordon is a magnificent evergreen shrub with bold, two-toned purple-burgundy-pink flowers. Displaying green-grey ferny foliage with bronze-coloured new growth tips, Dorothy Gordon has flushes of flowers throughout the year and is a magnet to honey-eating birds and mammals. Dorothy Gordon is a hybrid of WA and QLD parent plants, and it has a dense growth habit, which makes it ideal as a standalone shrub or informal hedge or screen. English Lavender is a fragrant flowering shrub with slender grey-green foliage and slim stems of perfumed purple flowers during spring. This variety is much hardier in cold temperatures than the Italian or French lavender. Apart from the fact that is very attractive to bees and other pollinators, English Lavender is also a deterrent to mosquitoes, borers and fleas.
