Mountain View Nursery was founded in 2019, just outside Moruya on the South Coast of New South Wales — built from a deep passion for plants, growing, and creating landscapes that thrive in Australian conditions.

We specialise in quality landscaping plants, offering a carefully curated range of native, ornamental, and hardy varieties suited to homes, gardens, and large-scale projects across NSW and the ACT.

⚠️ Standing Up for Small Business & Sustainability

Over the past six years, Mountain View Nursery has also faced an ongoing challenge that now threatens our ability to reopen our physical nursery to the public.

Despite operating as a genuine plant nursery — growing and propagating thousands of plants each year — we’ve been caught in a prolonged and complex council process that has created significant barriers for our small, family-run business.

💔 A Six-Year Journey

When our nursery began welcoming visitors, we followed the correct process and submitted a Development Application for a permitted land use.

What followed was a prolonged process involving:

  • Repeated delays and shifting requirements
  • Significant financial investment in compliance and expert reports
  • Ongoing uncertainty despite meeting professional standards

Independent planning and engineering experts have confirmed our operations meet requirements — yet the process continues.

🌏 Why This Matters

This situation goes beyond one business.

It raises important questions around:

  • Fair treatment of small businesses
  • Consistency in local planning processes
  • Environmental responsibility in decision-making

Some proposed requirements — such as sealing a quiet rural access road — would:

  • Introduce unnecessary environmental impact
  • Increase heat, runoff, and habitat disruption
  • Place an unsustainable financial burden on a small family business
