The West Coast native- Grevillea Silk Carpet - is just as happy rambling down a bank in Bendigo or Byron as it is in Bunbury. Its long, slender stems are tipped with fat, firework-like flowers in spring, with sporadic blooms appearing throughout the year. These pinkish-red rounded flower clusters, each finished with long lime-green to yellow tips, are irresistible to local honeyeaters and add lively movement to the garden.
The fine, slender foliage creates a soft, cascading effect, making this groundcover easy to place among both native and exotic plantings. It excels in native and wildlife gardens, coastal landscapes, and anywhere a dense, soil-holding groundcover is needed. This variety helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, stabilise banks, and protect the roots of surrounding plants by keeping them cool in summer and warm in winter. It also looks superb trailing over a retaining wall.
As the parent species has vigorous roots, avoid planting too close to pipes. Prune after flowering to maintain a neat, dense habit.

Correa pulchella Mat Orange is a low, spreading shrub that forms a neat, compact mound. Scaevola Bondi Blue is a beautiful and rapidly growing native ground cover that features lush green foliage. During spring, summer and autumn, Bondi Blue provides a glorious display of colour with masses of pale lavender/blue fan-shaped flowers that adorn the groundcover and provide a feast for native bees and butterflies. It looks amazing when planted around the house in hanging baskets, as a ground cover, or in landscapes that need a pop of colour. To maintain a tidy appearance, prune lightly after flowering, and fertilize with a slow-release native fertilizer in spring.

Westringia Aussie Box is a compact, hardy native shrub that offers an excellent alternative to traditional exotic box hedging. Ideal for hedges, borders, mass plantings and containers, it also performs exceptionally well in coastal gardens thanks to its strong tolerance to salt-laden winds, drought and frost. During spring and summer, masses of soft mauve flowers appear amongst the dense grey-green foliage, adding seasonal colour while attracting pollinators to the garden. Naturally forming a neat rounded shape, Aussie Box can be left unpruned for a softer look or clipped into a formal hedge or topiary shape. Although it benefits from slightly more regular pruning than traditional box hedges, it establishes quickly and is far tougher in Australian conditions, making it a practical and attractive low-maintenance option for modern landscapes.

Also referred to as “wild lime” or “desert kumquat”, the Desert Lime is a hardy, occasionally thorny shrub or small tree. It produces small green grape-sized fruits that pack an intensely citrus flavour! Fruits will appear soon after a showing of white, sweetly scented flowers in spring. For best results, harvest only ripe fruits — these will come away easily from the stem when gently pulled. As an Aboriginal bush food, they were eaten whole and are today considered a highly prized native fruit high in vitamin C, lutein, folate and vitamin E. You can enjoy Desert Lime in a variety of ways including marmalades, sauces, pickles and chutneys, candied peel, cocktails, and as a flavouring spice for both sweet and savoury dishes.
Drought-resistant and attractive, it’s a perfect addition to a low-maintenance garden or ornamental courtyard, and may be grown in large pots on a sunny verandah.

Thryptomene saxicola Supernova is a delightful little evergreen shrub with graceful slender stems with tiny narrow foliage. In late winter masses of dainty white flowers put on quite a show for several months. Supernova is a great cut flower for the home and bouquets. It is a tough, plant, and is ideal for a low-maintenance garden. Fertilise in spring and autumn and lightly trim to shape the plant if desired.
