Melia azedarach White Cedar is fast-growing native tree with an attractive, densely foliaged, rounded crown. Native to north-eastern parts of Australia, this tree is one of the few deciduous Australian natives. Glossy new foliage emerges in spring along with clusters of showy, fragrant, lilac flowers followed by hard, yellow/orange bead-like fruits which hang on the tree well into autumn. The fruit, although poisonous to humans and some animals, can provide abundant food for birdlife. This tree makes a wonderful specimen, shade tree or avenue tree.
