Kunzea pomifera Muntries
$18.00
Kunzea pomifera (Muntries, Emu Apple, Muntaberry or Monterry) is a hardy Australian native evergreen ground cover prized for its ornamental appeal and delicious edible fruit. In spring, masses of small white flowers blanket the plant, attracting pollinators before developing into clusters of attractive green and red berries. The crisp fruits have a distinctive spicy apple flavour and can be enjoyed fresh in salads and cheese platters or used in jams, pies, muffins, desserts, sauces, and with savoury meat dishes. Naturally low-growing and spreading, Muntries make an excellent ground cover for native gardens, coastal plantings, rockeries, and edible landscapes. For the best fruit production, keep the soil consistently moist during flowering and fruiting, avoid disturbing the shallow roots, and consider training the plant onto a low trellis to make harvesting easier.
