Acer palmatum Arakawa

Acer palmatum Arakawa, or Pine Bark Japanese Maple, is a distinctive deciduous tree prized as much for its remarkable bark as for its graceful foliage. As the tree matures, the bark becomes thick, corky and deeply fissured, resembling the rugged texture of pine bark—hence its common name. In spring and summer, the tree displays fresh green, finely cut palmate leaves with narrow lobes, creating a soft and elegant canopy. As the seasons change, the foliage transforms into warm shades of golden yellow with hints of orange in late summer and autumn, adding vibrant colour to the garden. Well-suited to garden borders, courtyards, and small landscapes, this ornamental maple makes a beautiful feature tree.
