Physalis peruviana Cape Gooseberry is native to South America, and is one of the most versatile yet understated vegie garden plants, The sweet fruit is encased in a papery husk that turns brown - letting you know that the fruit is ripe. The berry is the size of a cherry tomato, is very aromatic and full of tiny seeds. They are delicious eaten straight from the plant or made into gooseberry jam. They can be added to salads, desserts and cooked dishes, they are delicious stewed with apples or dipped in chocolate. They can also be dried or used in savoury dishes with meats and seafood. A perennial in the tropics, but grown as an annual in cooler climates.

Soil: Prefers a rich, moist well-drained soil
Conditions: Sun to partial shade. Drought and frost tolerant.

Gymea Lily is a stunning, architectural native with an upright, clumping growth habit and large sword-shaped leaves. The lily produces a spectacular 4m high deep-red flower head in spring. The flowers are rich in nectar, often visited by birds, bees and other insects. It is easy to maintain by simply cutting off the old flower heads and removing any dead or dying foliage in autumn. Use singularly as a feature in a pot or courtyard, but equally impressive mass planted commercially for impact.

The Finger lime, known as Caviar Lime, is a native Australian citrus that produces delicious and iconic edible fruits. The fruit grows in long slender shapes and is filled with small round pink pearly segments that appear like caviar. The taste is an exquisite sweet lime. Finger limes will begin to drop of their own accord, usually between November and March. It’s important to wait until the fruits have matured before harvesting, as this variety will not mature once removed from the branches. The fruit is beautiful in summer drinks, desserts, chutneys, jams, and marmalades. Finger limes can be planted in the ground as a beautiful specimen tree or in large pots. Being a grafted tree, our specimens will produce fruits immediately without needing to wait the typical decade for the tree to mature to a fruiting stage.

Soil: Plant in composted, well-draining soil. Mulch in spring and keep the soil moist in summer.
Conditions: Will perform best in a warm sheltered spot in full sun. Tolerant of frost and dry conditions.

Ceratopetalum gummiferum Red Red Red is a variety of the Christmas Bush. Red Red Red is an evergreen native shrub or small tree displaying vibrant, triple-leaved foliage appearing in hues of bronze-red when young, maturing into a soft green. In early summer, Red Red Red's lacy, cream-white flowers give way to showy, deep-red bracts. It can be used as an attractive screen or ornamental tree year round, providing flowers to cut for the festive season. Prune about 30% off straight after flowering for the best results.

Soil: Well-drained soil.
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Tolerant of coastal conditions, light frosts and dry spells.

Camellia Brushfield’s Yellow is a vigorous, bushy, upright shrub with beautiful large glossy, dark green oval leaves. A rich display of medium-sized flowers starting from winter through to spring. Each bloom features double centres of tightly ruffled petals in pale primrose, circled by large antique white petals. Prune after flowering (early spring) to desired height and shape, as this will encourage a bushy, neat growth habit. The camellia requires deep soakings in the peak of summer, which will benefit the plant.

Soil: Prefers to be grown in humus-rich, well-draining soil.
Conditions: Prefers a sheltered location with partial shade, avoiding direct afternoon sun that can scorch its leaves and flowers. It thrives in environments protected from strong winds. Frost tolerant.
Size: Height 2-3m x width 1-2m

Cherry Surprise is a naturally compact, extremely hardy lilly pilly with striking bright red new growth that contrasts superbly with the older green foliage. Small cream flowers appear in spring and summer. Perfect for hedging, screening or topiary. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape as a dense hedge, and fertilize with a slow-release fertilizer in late winter and early autumn.

Soil: Well-drained soil with added enrichment. Mulch well after planting and water well in dry weather.

Acacia Honey Bun is an Australian native shrub with weeping, vibrant green foliage. It flowers in spring with pale lemon ball-shaped flowers which attract butterflies and birds. It is perfect as a low informal hedge, screen, windbreak or as a potted plant. Apply a slow-release fertiliser specific for natives in spring to promote healthy new growth. When pruning this wattle, take care to maintain its weeping habit.

Conditions: Sunny to part shade position. Will tolerate periods of dryness and light frost once established. Coastal tolerant.

The Gossamer Wattle tree is a fast-growing, dense shrub or small tree with fine, feathery foliage covering a beautiful smooth grey trunk. This species has masses of glorious, long, tubular feathery-yellow flowers from August to November - attracting seed and nectar-feeding birds and insects. Gossamer Wattle makes an excellent quick screen, ideal for erosion control and creek side plantings, shade and stock trees.
