Syzygium australe, commonly known as Bush Cherry Lilly Pilly, is a fast-growing evergreen native widely found across Australia. Its oval green leaves emerge bronze before maturing to a deep, glossy green, creating an attractive and dense canopy. Flowering begins in late spring when clusters of soft, white fluffy flowers appear along the branches, attracting bees and other pollinators. These are followed by small fruits that begin pale and ripen to pink or deep red. The sweet berries can be eaten fresh from the tree or used in jams, jellies, muffins, biscuits, cakes and even wine. This versatile plant is widely cultivated for hedging and screening, as it responds well to pruning and can easily be maintained as an edible hedge around 1 m high. Regular trimming encourages fresh new growth and keeps the plant compact and tidy, making it ideal for gardens of all sizes.

Myoporum parvifolium Fine Leaf is a dense, prostrate Australian native ground cover valued for its soft, fine green foliage and spreading habit. It forms a lush carpet that hugs the ground, making it ideal for covering large areas with minimal maintenance. From late spring through to early autumn, the plant is dotted with masses of tiny, starry flowers that sit just above the foliage, adding a delicate seasonal display while still maintaining its tidy appearance. Perfect for spilling over embankments, cascading across retaining walls, or filling difficult-to-access areas, Fine Leaf is excellent for suppressing weeds and stabilising soil. Its hardy nature makes it well suited to dry gardens, coastal sites and low-maintenance landscapes. Prune lightly once a year to encourage fresh, dense growth and to maintain shape. Feed annually with a controlled-release native fertiliser to keep plants healthy and flowering well.

Sandpaper Fig is an native fruiting tree that gets its name from its rough textured leaves. The ancient fig tree produces a very sweet fruit growing to 2cm in diameter that can be eaten fresh, dried or cooked. Sandpaper Fig is generally a hardy species and adapts well to a wide range of habitats. It attracts birds, bees, insects and lizards making it a great addition to the garden.

Conditions: Prefers full-sun and is suitable to part-shade. Protect from frosts. Can tolerate drought.

Dianella Little Jess'™ is a very compact variety of native grass with a profusion of purple flowers in spring, and fresh green foliage year-round. The leaves are broader than other dianellas, making Little Jess perfect for borders and edgings, mass landscape planting, and containers. Remove old flowers and foliage to improve appearance, and apply fertiliser twice yearly or more often in poorer soils. 

Soil: Tolerates most soil types including sand or clay.

The Finger lime, known as Caviar Lime, is a native Australian citrus that produces delicious and iconic edible fruits. The fruit grows in long slender shapes and is filled with small round red pearly segments that appear like caviar. The taste is an exquisite sweet lime. Finger limes will begin to drop of their own accord, usually between November and March. It’s important to wait until the fruits have matured before harvesting, as this variety will not mature once removed from the branches. The fruit is beautiful in summer drinks and desserts, chutneys, jams and marmalades. Finger limes can be planted in the ground as a beautiful specimen tree or in large pots.

Soil: Plant in composted, well-draining soil. Mulch in spring and keep the soil moist in summer.
Conditions: Will perform best in a warm sheltered spot in full sun. Tolerant of frost and dry conditions.

Ziera prostrata Carpet Star is a dense-growing Australian native groundcover endemic to Coffs Harbour in northern NSW. This is a plant that forms a dense matt of foliage - glossy green leaves that are fragrant when crushed. Pale pink buds open to small four-petalled white flowers in spring and summer which attract beneficial pollinators. Carpet Star is perfect as a groundcover and living mulch; helping to control weeds. Ideal for coastal gardens, pots and containers.

Soil: Plant in well-draining, sandy loam to sandy soils.
Conditions: Prefers dappled shade or filtered light. Protect from hot afternoon sun.

Prostanthera rhombea Pink is a small evergreen shrub with a dense growth habit and a spectacular display of musk-pink flowers during late winter and early spring. The aromatic foliage of this Australian native gives it the common name of Mint Bush because of the refreshing fragrance when it is crushed. Pretty in both native and cottage gardens and suitable for containers, rockeries, and pathways. Use a slow-release low phosphorus fertiliser to help establish the plant. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Leptospermum Copper Glow is an outstanding small tree with beautifully arching branches clothed in copper-coloured foliage. , making it useful for informal hedging and screening, as well as a contrast shrub for other plantings. It gets a flush of white flowers in spring, which are nectar-rich and attract butterflies and other insects. A light prune will encourage a more dense growth habit. Plant Copper Glow in an area where it is free to spread out and be admired.
