Camellia sasquana Paradise Green Tea is a large, slow-growing evergreen shrub with leathery, dark green glossy leaves. Fragrant white blooms adorned with golden stamens appear in autumn and early winter, providing a vital food source for bees. Paradise Green Tea is not only a stunning plant - its young leaves can be harvested to make green tea. The leaves are quickly steamed, and then heated and rolled before drying. The rapid steaming process preserves the colour as well as the large amount of antioxidants. However, if tea is not your thing, plant this lovely camellia to create a beautiful hedge that can be grown to any height and it will enhance the surroundings with its smooth, evergreen leaves and pretty flowers. Tea plants also grow well in large pots or containers, but they still require acidic, well-mulched, and well-drained soil.

Soil: Moist, humus-rich soil.
Conditions: In most home gardens, the best position is in dappled shade, as it provides some protection from frosts and the hot sun, which can burn the new leaves.
Size: Height 4m x width 3m (In commercial production, the height is kept at less than 1m for easy harvesting).

Elaeagnus ebbingei, also known as the Silverberry or Oleaster Hedge, stands out with its gleaming silvery-green leaves complemented by subtly fragrant, small white flowers in autumn. Perfect if you need a medium-sized hedge grown fast, or a hardy plant for those tricky spots as it will tolerate most conditions. Ideal for hedging, windbreaks, or as a standalone feature, this hardy plant is a reliable and attractive choice for various garden scenarios as well as topiary.

Westringia Violet Skies is a delightful evergreen native rosemary with a dense, compact habit that makes it ideal for hedging, screening, borders, or as a low-structure feature plant. Syzygium Toffee Apple is a striking Australian native shrub renowned for its colourful foliage and naturally dense, compact growth habit. Fresh new growth emerges in rich burgundy and deep red tones, reminiscent of a classic toffee apple, before gradually maturing to glossy deep green. The vibrant foliage display is at its most spectacular in spring, although regular pruning will encourage repeated flushes of colourful new growth throughout the year. Evergreen, hardy, and easy to maintain, Syzygium Toffee Apple is an excellent choice for hedging, screening, topiary, feature planting, and container growing.

Syzygium Hinterland Gold is a fast-growing, dense lilly pilly with mid-sized glossy green leaves that develop a lovely coppery hue in the new growth. The lilly pilly produces fluffy flowers in the summer months, followed by red-purple berries. Hinterland Gold is ideal as a privacy screen, hedge and topiary plant, and responds well to pruning. Mulch well to cut down weed problems, and feed with a good all-purpose fertiliser in warm months.

Conditions: Full sun to partial shade. Drought and coastal hardy. Light frost tolerance.

Masses of tiny pink flowers over a very long period and a compact, low-growing shrubby habit ensure that Thryptomene saxicola F.C. Payne remains a popular shrub for the garden. The native shrub has a slightly weeping habit with slender, aromatic foliage. It is useful as a background shrub or a low-growing hedge plant. It can be pruned by occasionally trimming off branches to use as cut flowers, or else give it a light trim coming out of winter.

Soil: Well-drained soil. Sandy slightly acid soil is ideal.
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Prefers low humidity climates. Tolerates light frost and drought.
Size: Height 0.75-1m x width 1-1.5m

Pittosporum tenuifolium Golden Sheen is a fast-growing, attractive evergreen shrub which can grow up to 1m per year. Golden Sheen has small, bright yellow-green leaves with variegated white leaf margins resting upon almost black stems. Its compact growing habit makes it useful for both garden beds and a decorative subject in a patio pot or container. When planting in a hedge it is best to space them 1m apart.

Soil: It requires good drainage but grows well in most soils.
Conditions: Full sun to semi-shade. Frost, wind and coastal tolerant.
