The Betula pendula Purpurea, commonly known as the Purple Leaf Birch, is an elegant, medium-sized deciduous tree admired for its striking contrast of deep purple-black foliage against silvery-white bark. As the bark matures, it develops darker, textured tones—eventually becoming a beautiful blackish grey, adding year-round visual interest to the landscape. With its graceful, slender form and gently drooping branches, the Purple Leaf Birch makes a superb specimen or feature tree, while also looking stunning when planted in groups to create soft shade or structural contrast. Its fine-textured foliage and ornamental bark make it equally at home in formal gardens, mixed borders, or parkland-style plantings.

Acer Shaina is a vibrantly-coloured, japanese maple with upright branches covered in bright red leaves in spring, and dark maroon-red foliage in summer. This is a dense and compact cultivar with a nice globe shape. When grafted as a standard, it makes a colourful and elegant showpiece in the garden, courtyard or patio pot. It is necessary to lightly prune to keep the topiary form. For best leaf colour, it is advised to plant in partial shade.

Nothing sets the tropical mood quite like frangipani, and the Fruit Salad frangipani is one of the most spectacular. The Pacific Maidenhair Fern is a graceful fern with lacy, spreading, fresh green fronds on thin black stems. They're considered hardy ferns, rather than ferns preferring steamier conditions, but don't let the description fool you. Maidenhair ferns can be difficult to keep healthy indoors, as they're quite particular about their growing conditions. The most important environmental factor is humidity—it thrives on moisture and needs a lot to survive, which can often be difficult to achieve in indoor environments. Pacific Maidenhair likes high humidity so you'll want to mist the foliage regularly if you aren't growing it in a humid environment. Ideal as a houseplant in hanging baskets, pots, ferneries and conservatories. Remove spent fronds and apply liquid fertiliser regularly to encourage lush new growth. Do not allow the soil to become soggy.
