Matapouri Bay is a clumping perennial plant with attractive blue-green arching foliage. Large, elegant sprays of white stars flowers are borne prolifically and long on arching stems over summer. The dense foliage acts as a ground cover, preventing weed growth under the plant. Matapouri Bay is ideal for use as a border plant, under-planting as well as potted colour. Feed with a controlled-release fertiliser after flowering for best results, and trim yearly before new growth appears.

Soil: Tolerates most soil types. Mulch and water well.
Conditions: Full sun to full shade position. Coastal, wind, drought and light frost tolerant.

Malus Pink Lady Semi-Dwarf is a compact, productive apple tree that produces crisp, dense fruit with firm flesh and the signature sweet, tangy flavour that has made Pink Lady® apples a favourite. With a naturally high sugar content, the fruit is excellent for eating fresh as well as cooking in pies, sauces, salads, and desserts. This semi-dwarf variety is ideal for smaller gardens, courtyards, and large pots or containers, offering full-sized fruit on a tree that is easy to manage and harvest.  Self-pollinating, this variety can produce fruit on its own, making it an excellent choice where space is limited, although planting another compatible apple nearby may increase yields.

Conditions: Sunny position. A very vigorous upright growing tree suitable for most climates.

Acer Senkaki Maple, or Coral Bark Maple, is simply stunning with its distinctive coral-red bark that contrasts with its light green leaves in spring and summer. The foliage turns a yellow buttery-gold in autumn and the winter garden display is courtesy of the striking red bark. The maple forms a beautiful vase-shaped tree and is ideal as a specimen tree, shade tree and a contrasting tree for the garden.

Conditions: Partial shade. Protect from midday heat and drying winds in warmer climates. Frost hardy.

Acer Emerald Lace, commonly known as the Emerald Lace Japanese Maple, is a graceful and elegant deciduous tree, particularly stunning when grown as a standard. This variety is treasured for its finely dissected, lace-like leaves that emerge bright green in spring and maintain their vibrant colour through summer, before turning brilliant shades of red and orange in autumn. Typically grown on a standard, it reaches a height of 1.5 to 2 metres, with a similar spread, making it a striking focal point in any garden.

Conditions: Full sun to partial shade. Frost tolerant.

Wisteria Rosea is a hardy Japanese climber that will create a beautiful focal point with lightly scented, pendulous racemes of long flowers that can grow up to 1m long. Rosea bears a riotous mass of soft pink flowers tinged with lavender in early spring and produces spectacular autumn foliage colour. This hardy wisteria is a fast grower so it’s ideal for covering pergolas or arbours and providing much-needed shade over the summer months. 

Soil: Moist and well-drained soil. This species will also tolerate clay and sandy soils.
Conditions: Full sun or partial shade. Moderately frost and salt tolerant.
