Washingtonia robusta, or Mexican Cotton Fan Palm, is a tall, fast-growing palm that brings instant tropical vibes to the garden. It has a slim trunk that gets a noticeable swell at the base as it matures, giving it a really cool, sculptural look. The big, fan-shaped leaves can reach up to 1.5 m long, with little thread-like fibres that hang between the segments—hence the “cotton” nickname. In the warmer months, it sends out long, drooping sprays of tiny white flowers that can be up to 3 m long, followed by dark brown fruit. A great pick for adding height, drama, and that relaxed, tropical feel to gardens and outdoor spaces.

Cupressus macrocarpa Golden Halo is a beautiful bright yellow cypress capable of spreading more than two metres in the first ten years. Branches arch from the base and become horizontal, producing a low umbrella-shaped shrub of substantial structure. It bears large wrinkled cones with slightly coarse foliage that smells sour when bruised. Golden Halo can build up in height with age, so to maintain a low profile, it is essential to remove any upward growth. Fantastic for a hedge which trims to a smooth texture.

Rainforest Pearl is a premium cultivar in the Citrus Gems® range, grafted for improved vigour, earlier fruiting, and greater tolerance of light frost and dry conditions. This attractive evergreen tree features deep green, rounded foliage, thorny stems and a graceful, slightly weeping habit that responds well to pruning. Delicate white flowers tinged with pink appear in summer, followed by slender, aromatic finger-shaped fruit with green to reddish skin. The fruit begins ripening on the tree and reaches its peak flavour after being picked and left for 5–10 days. Inside, the vibrant citrus pearls burst with tangy, refreshing juice, making them a gourmet favourite for seafood, Asian dishes, desserts and cocktails. Trees typically begin producing fruit from the second autumn after planting, making Rainforest Pearl a rewarding addition to home gardens and edible landscapes.

Conditions: It will do best in a warm, sheltered spot and can do well in dappled shade though will thrive in full sun. Tolerant of light frost and dry conditions.

Syzygium australe Superior is a compact, fast-growing lilly pilly with neat, small leaves that start out coppery and turn a rich green as they mature. It naturally grows into a slender, conical shape if left untrimmed. In summer, you’ll see fluffy white flowers followed by pretty pink berries that birds love — and they’re edible too! Superior is perfect for hedges, screens, shaping, or even growing in a pot. Tip prune when young to help it fill out nicely, and give it a light trim a couple of times a year once it’s established. This variety is psyllid resistant, so no bumpy leaves to worry about. A great choice if you love ‘Resilience’, but want something a little different.

Camellia Katherine Nuccio is a stunning variety of Camellia japonica known for its rich, deep pink to rosy red formal double blooms that can reach up to 10-13cm in diameter. A graceful, medium-to-large tree with a naturally pendulous habit, the Pinus patula Mexican Weeping Pine is admired for its long, fine, supple needles and beautiful, textured bark. A striking North Queensland rainforest tree, Syzygium papyraceum Paperbark Satinash is admired for its glossy green foliage, attractive reddish papery bark, and large, edible purple berries. In the warmer months, it bears delicate pink to mauve brush-like flowers with a subtle citron fragrance, followed by vibrant purple fruit up to 3cm long. The Paperbark Satinash forms a dense, bushy canopy and makes an excellent shade or feature tree in larger gardens, parks, or streetscapes.

Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Though naturally tropical, it can be grown in cooler climates if given shelter and consistent moisture
