Evergreen Plants

Syzygium Big Red is a dense lilly pilly with large, glossy leaves with gorgeous dark crimson new growth which contrasts beautifully with the mature green leaves. White summer flowers are followed by edible fruit. A great feature, screen, hedge or topiary plant that can be grown in large pots. Big Red responds very well to pruning making it an excellent plant for hedging and screening in residential situations. Mulch well to keep down weeds and conserve soil moisture.

Philadelphus mexicana, also known as Mexican Mock Orange, is a beautiful evergreen shrub with lush, bright green foliage. Heavily scented white, cup-shaped flowers, infused with a sweet orange blossom fragrance, cover this shrub in spring and summer. The evergreen will need a little protection over winter if frost is forecast. Prune after flowering down to a lower side shoot. Ideally used as a feature plant, for borders and as a hedging plant.

Licuala elegans, or the Elegant Fan Palm, is a stunning and graceful palm renowned for its striking fan-shaped leaves. Its glossy dark green foliage and refined appearance make it an excellent choice for tropical gardens or indoor plant collections.

Soil: Prefers consistently moist soil but can tolerate short periods of dryness.
Conditions: Partial shade but can tolerate full sun in tropical climates. Grows best in tropical or subtropical climates. Frost free.

Lavander Sensation White is an attractive form of French lavender, with an upright and bushy habit. It displays fragrant soft grey-blue flowers with clear white wings that are held above soft grey aromatic foliage. Lavender is commonly used in cottage gardens, included in mixed plantings and borders, trimmed into a hedge, or maintained in a container. A mass planting of Sensation White lavender - either as a groundcover or on a bank - will give a dramatic display.

Strawberry Blonde is medium sized spreading shrub with grey-green toothed foliage and outstanding burgundy-caramel-cream flowers in winter and spring. Plant as a striking hedge or feature plant, great for attracting wild birds to your garden. Prune after flowering to retain a dense, bushy shape.

Conditions: Sunny position. Frost, drought and coastal tolerant.

Gordonia Yunnanensis, or the 'Fried Egg Plant", is a tall, fast-growing evergreen shrub or small tree. (This form is yunnanensis which simply means it is from the Yunnan province in southern China). It has slender, oval, green leaves and bears unusual white, crepey, open-faced flowers with golden yellow stamens throughout winter and spring. It has the largest flowers of the Gordonia genus. They make excellent features and shade trees in small to medium gardens.

Soil: Well drained, slightly acidic soils. Mulch Well
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Does not tolerate high heat or drought.
