The Bay Tree is an upright, hardy evergreen tree with deep green aromatic foliage. Leaves are glossy and oval and hang from red-brown branches. In spring, yellow buds appear, opening to clusters of fluffy yellow flowers, adding a lovely contrast to the foliage. The bay tree is very slow growing and will only flower after 10 -30 years, with small black fruits to follow. Native to the Mediterranean, the bay tree is well known for its culinary use - the leaves are added to soups and stews. It is often used for topiary and can be easily shaped into balls, squares and low hedges.

Kaffir Lime Tree is an easy citrus fruit tree to grow and it is the leaves - not the fruit - that is highly valued. Kaffir lime trees are much loved for their aromatic leaves, which are fantastic for imparting that authentic Asian flavour to curries, soups and stir fries. The fruits - which do not hold a lot of juice - are visually interesting with green, bumpy skin and the zest packs a punch! Once established these trees require little care or pruning other than to keep in shape or maintain a smaller size.
