Cascading like waves on the sea, Banksia Roller Coaster provides any landscape with the perfect groundcover. Silver-backed leaves on strong stems flicker like wave tops in the wind contrasting against the green. The lemon banksia flowers appear from late summer to early spring and are excellent for attracting birds and the dense layering makes it a wildlife habitat plant. Grow Roller Coaster on banks, over retaining walls, or amongst large rock outcrops. It can be pruned to keep it more compact and manageable in a smaller garden.

With its visually arresting appearance, Banksia praemorsa will make a striking centrepiece for your garden. The large, serrated leaves, resembling green combs, are arranged in a spiral pattern, but the true showstopper is the unique inflorescence, a dense, cylindrical arrangement of bottlebrush flowers. These vibrant blooms, commonly in shades of orange and red, contrast beautifully with the green foliage, creating a spectacle of colour that attracts numerous pollinators, including birds, insects, and mammals. Fantastic as an ornamental in the garden, or as wind-break or coastal planting. Banksias are phosphorus-sensitive, so a good native fertiliser is best when it comes to feeding time.

Banksia plagiocarpa, or Hinchinbrook Banksia, Blue Banksia or Dallachy's Banksia, is restricted to Hinchinbrook Island in northern Queensland and the adjoining mainland close to the coast. It is a rare species of banksia displaying stunningly attractive blue-grey flowers, growing 5-6 cm in diameter. Banksia plagiocarpa delights from mid-summer to early winter with its unusual cylindrical flower spikes. The new growth is rusty red and covered in red velvety fur. This species will form a nicely shaped shrub and may get sparse and leggy if not pruned. As with all banksia they attract birds and small mammals for their nectar.

Banksia serrata, or Saw or Old Man Banksia, is a character-filled small to medium-sized tree with leathery serrated leaves and large, creamy yellow to brown flowers in summer. The flowers are followed by interesting pods, and the bark is quite lumpy - both of which helped inspire May Gibbs' Big Bad Banksia man. The plant can vary in size depending on the soil and its exposure. Banksia serrata attracts nectar-loving birds and other wildlife to the garden, and black cockatoos like feeding on the developing cones.
