Lavandula angustifolia Munstead is an heirloom dwarf variety of English Lavender introduced in 1916. Munstead produces masses of lilac-blue, fragrant lavender flower heads, and fine, grey-green foliage. Munstead lavender is attractive to bees and planting the lavender near a vegetable garden or citrus will assist with pollination and deter common pests. Being smaller makes this little treasure much more suitable for pot and container growing, squeezing into tighter spaces and in rockeries and small gardens.

Correa Chef's Cap is a densely-foliaged native shrub with sweetly aromatic leaves. The rounded shrub produces tubular greenish-yellow flowers in autumn and winter attracting nectar-loving birds and bees to the garden. Ideal for group plantings under trees, as a low-growing windbreak and informal hedge or screen. The correa will benefit from feeding twice a year with plant food or liquid fertiliser. Prune after flowering to maintain compact growth.

Trachelospermum Tricolour is a slow-growing, groundcover form of Star Jasmine, valued for its attractive variegated foliage in shades of cream, pink and green. Each leaf displays a unique pattern of colour, adding year-round interest to the garden. In spring, fragrant white, star-shaped flowers appear, filling the air with the familiar scent of jasmine. An excellent choice for containers, borders, groundcover plantings or cascading over embankments.

Brilliant red flowers on a low-growing plant make Leptospermum Outrageous one of the best tea trees for ornamental garden use. Outrageous is a low-spreading shrub with small mid-green leaves and showy large red flowers that age to pink in spring. The branches have a natural pendulous or drooping habit - it can be used as a low-growing hedge or as a feature plant in the garden. In flower, it will attract bees, beneficial insects and birds to the garden, as well as supplying a habitat for smaller birds.

This stunning Australian native shows off delicate-looking silver foliage that is extremely soft to the touch, hence its common name - Woolly Bush Platinum. With its soft silver foliage and delightful small red flowers borne throughout the year, Platinum can be grown either as a specimen plant, a striking hedge, or even as an interesting alternative to the standard Christmas tree. A light prune after flowering will encourage strong new growth.
