Lomandra Hystrix is one of the toughest and most versatile Australian native grasses, thriving in almost any climate, soil, or garden situation with very little maintenance. Forming a large, dense clump of bright green, fine grassy foliage, it features longer, broader leaves than many other Lomandra varieties and produces attractive yellow, spiny flower spikes in spring. More tolerant of wet soils and humid conditions than Lomandra longifolia, it is perfect for erosion control, weed suppression, mass planting, native gardens, and large containers. A light trim every few years and an occasional application of fertiliser will keep the foliage lush, vibrant, and looking its best.
