Indigofera australis is a lovely ornamental shrub with a spreading habit and arching branches. Long, slender spikes of rosy-pink, pea-shaped flowers are borne at the ends of the branches creating a drooping, pendulous appearance. It is a prolific nectar producer, inviting masses of butterflies to the garden during spring. The slender, adaptable stem of Indigofera australis can develop lovely prostrate growth or even flows down a wall or slope to fit its surroundings. Prune in late winter to encourage dense growth and feed with a complete native fertiliser in spring.
