Allocasuarina torulosa Forest She-Oak is a large, spreading tree with weeping needle-like leaves, which turn rusty red when flowering in winter. With sweeping branches covered in green foliage, the needles turn to a contrasting red in winter. Winter is flowering time and the flowers are small, red-to-brown colour followed by interesting seed capsules. The fissured corky bark and small cone fruit are also decorative. Forest She- Oak is useful for screening and wind-breaks, and the sound of the wind through the leaves is a delight. A terrific low-maintenance plant, apart from some leaf litter, but this makes great weed-deterring mulch. Forest She-Oak copes well with coastal conditions and tolerates urban positions where pollution is high.
Be aware -the tree can have an extensive root system so should not be planted near drains, buildings, etc

Soil: Will cope with a range of soils including poor sandy soils.
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Coastal, frost, drought and pollution-tolerant
Size: Height 10m x width 6m
