Hibiscus tiliaceus Rubra syn Talipariti, commonly known as the Red Cotton Tree, is a striking hibiscus with large maroon-green foliage and bright yellow flowers that occasionally appear coral. It forms a low, broad crown that provides excellent shade and creates a bold tropical look in the garden. It is a versatile plant that can be grown as a feature tree, informal hedge or screening plant. Prune after flowering to maintain shape and fertilise in spring to encourage healthy growth and vibrant foliage. Regular trimming will keep it neat as a hedge, or it can be left to grow naturally as an attractive spreading tree.
