Hydrangea White is a timeless cottage garden favourite, adored for its lush foliage and magnificent snow-white mop-head blooms. Conditions: Hydrangeas do not like hot, direct sunlight so plant with morning sunlight and partial shade in the later parts of the day. Frost and coastal tolerant.

Banksia integrifolia Sentinel is a striking Australian native with an upright, narrow growth habit and dense, dark green foliage that flashes a silvery underside in the breeze. From summer through to mid-winter it produces large, lemon-coloured flower spikes that attract honeyeaters and bees. This evergreen banksia is ideal for coastal gardens and works beautifully in flower beds, borders, or as a natural screen. Its tall, slender form makes it perfect for adding structure and a vibrant splash of colour to the landscape while supporting local wildlife.

Soil: Prefers a well-drained, humus-rich soil and is suited to sandy soils.
Conditions: Full sun or part shade. Frost tolerant to –10C, drought and coast hardy.

Grevillea Cherry Pie is a dense, compact native shrub with abundant displays of cherry-red and white flowers in winter and spring. The floral display continues sporadically through the year ensuring continual traffic of honeyeaters, butterflies and bees. Plant as a screen or in a mass clumping to enjoy the colourful appeal of Cherry Pie. Prune after flowering to promote new growth and flowering.

Soil: Well-drained clay or loam. Mulch well and water regularly until the plant is established.
Conditions: Full sun. Drought, salt, coastal and frost tolerant.

The winter flowering daphne is Daphne Odora, a fragrant low-growing plant and the most popular of all daphnes. Both pink and white flowering varieties are available, and this is regarded as the best winter flowering shrub of all. It's rosy/pink buds open to reveal splendid, waxy, white to pink to purple flowers that have a heavenly fragrance. They grow well in the garden and can also be grown in pots. This plant hates root disturbance so choose the spot carefully and plant it young. Feed with a light sprinkling of blood and bone every two or three months in the growing/flowering season.

Soil: Daphne like a humus-rich, well-drained, acidic soil. If you have heavy clay soil, add compost or bark before planting to help with drainage.
Conditions: Full sun to light shade that has protection from the hot afternoon sun. Best in cool to temperate climates - frost tender.
