Grevillea laurifolia, commonly known as the Blue Mountains Rambler, is a hardy Australian native valued for its dense, spreading habit and ability to stabilise challenging sites. This evergreen ground cover or low-growing shrub features broad, heart-shaped leaves with a tough, leathery texture. From winter through to early summer, it puts on a striking display of wiry, toothbrush-like flowers in deep red tones, highlighted with golden tips. These nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to birds and other pollinators, bringing life and movement into the garden during the cooler months. Well suited to embankments, slopes and areas prone to erosion, this grevillea thrives in difficult conditions where many other plants struggle. Care should be taken when pruning or planting, as the root system is sensitive to disturbance.

Soil: Prefers lighter, sandy soils.
Conditions: Sunny location. Coastal and frost tolerant.

Big, bold, and reminiscent of summer, Paradise Blush brings colour, warmth and texture to the winter garden. Masses of deep pink buds open to medium-sized, semi-double, white blooms with pink edges are displayed on an evergreen shrub from late autumn through the cooler months. Paradise Blush is perfect for screens, hedges, espaliers and large pots.

Soil: Slightly acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
Conditions: Sunny and semi-shaded positions. Paradise camellias will grow Australia-wide, they are tolerant of light frosts and heat. May need some protection in extreme conditions.

Phylica Hydra is a striking evergreen shrub admired for its soft, feathery foliage in shades of lime green, silver-grey and blue-green, creating a light and airy texture in the garden year-round. From late winter through spring, elegant silver-cream flower bracts appear along the stems, adding further interest and making it highly sought after for floral work and dried arrangements. This hardy, low-maintenance shrub performs beautifully in a range of garden styles including coastal gardens, native-inspired landscapes, rockeries, borders and decorative pots. Its naturally dense habit also makes it suitable for informal low hedging or mass plantings where texture and softness are desired. The long-lasting stems retain their colour and form for many weeks, making them exceptional for fresh or dried cut flower displays.

Soil: Prefers well-drained soil. If you don't have well-drained soil, create a mound for planting.

Leucadendron Lime Magic is a beautiful, upright-growing shrub prized for its fresh, luminous colour and architectural form. Flowering in early spring, it displays creamy white to pale lime blooms held above vivid lime-green foliage, creating a clean, modern look that brightens the garden when many plants are just waking up. Naturally neat and vertical in habit, Lime Magic works wonderfully as a feature plant, in mixed native garden beds, or grown in pots and containers. The long-lasting stems also make it an excellent choice for cut flowers and floral arrangements. When growing in containers, use an Australian native potting mix and a low-phosphorus native fertiliser, and always choose pots with excellent drainage.

Callistemon Purple Splendour is a relatively compact bottlebrush with an abundance of brilliant purple flower heads in spring with a follow-up flush in autumn. The new foliage is a soft pink colour - adding a colourful contrast to the more mature, grey-green foliage. Naturally open in habit, prune Purple Splendour regularly to encourage more dense growth and even more flowers.

Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Tolerant of drought, frosts and coastal conditions.

Brachyscome Mauve Bliss is a vibrant mauve native daisy-flowered ground cover with fine, delicate foliage and abundant flowers. It has a long flowering time, a compact and rounded growth habit and attractive divided foliage, and will send out suckering growth which helps it to be a more robust plant. Ideal for mass planting, cottage gardens, pots, rockeries and border planting.

Soil: Tolerates most soil types and planting conditions.
Conditions: Plant in full sun to dappled shade. Frost and coastal tolerant.
