One of the most handsome Australian tropical trees, Alloxylon flammeum, or the Tree Waratah, has a spreading habit of deep green, glossy foliage. This evergreen rainforest tree looks sensational in spring when it is covered with an abundance of magnificent red waratah-look-alike blooms. The bright flowerheads are like a beacon for honeyeaters. It is a hardy and adaptable tree for farms and parks.

Acacia iteaphylla, or Flinders Range Wattle, is a hardy ornamental shrub recommended for its form and foliage. It is used as a background plant in larger mixed plantings or grouped as a screen, shelter or wind-break in wider verges, and parks. As with all wattles, the acacia attracts native birds and insects. The wattle is successfully used for soil stabilisation, and it is recommended to prune after flowering.

Acacia melanoxylon (Australian Blackwood) is a fast-growing, evergreen tree known for its dense, spreading crown and attractive dark brown to near-black bark. It also supports local biodiversity, attracting birdlife such as honeyeaters and lorikeets. Beyond its ornamental value, the tree has practical uses. Its seeds can be ground into flour or used as a coffee substitute, while its richly coloured timber is highly prized for furniture making and fine woodworking.
