Ground Covers

A popular Australian native, Scaevola White Carpet puts on a terrific flower show from spring to autumn. The long-lived, spreading ground cover has a thick carpet of tight, mid-green foliage with clusters of fan-shaped, white flowers. It looks incredible planted around the house in hanging baskets or as a ground cover where landscapes need a pop of colour. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a tidy appearance, and feed with a slow-release native fertiliser in spring.

Isopogon Pink Sparkler is a captivating plant featuring delicate pink cone flowers that illuminate its branches, creating a mesmerizing display. Scleranthus biflorus Cushion Bush is a distinctive, low-growing perennial valued for its bright green, moss-like foliage and naturally sculptural form. It forms dense, rounded cushions that spread across the ground, often moulding beautifully around rocks and hard surfaces to create a soft, organic look. An excellent feature plant, Cushion Bush is ideal for rockeries, between stepping stones, or as a decorative addition to pots. It pairs well with contrasting foliage plants but is equally appealing displayed on its own as a neat, textural accent. It can also be used as a lawn substitute in low-traffic areas, providing a lush, carpet-like appearance—though it is best suited for visual effect rather than regular foot traffic.

A superb, hardy, evergreen Australian native shrub, the Gin Gin Gem is a low, dense grevillea with vibrant lime foliage and small spider-type red and cream flowers that attract honey bees and small nectar-feeding birds. It makes an ideal groundcover for embankments and rockeries and brings bright splashes of colour to the garden from late autumn through winter and spring. Prune lightly after flowering for an even more dense habit, and feed in spring.
