Pyrus pyrifolia Shinseiki Asian Pear Tree is a dessert cultivar with a profusion of fragrant, cream-white flowers in early spring. The flowers are followed in late summer by a heavy crop of large, round, thin-skinned moonlight yellow pears. Their creamy flesh is crisp, juicy and oh-so-sweet! The foliage is a glorious copper in spring, glossy green in summer changing to brilliant red in autumn. Shinseiki is self-pollinating but it will cross-pollinate with other Asian and European pears. With its perfumed flowrs, ever-changing foliage and heavy crop of fruit, Shinseiki pear is a delight for the landscape.

Conditions: Full sun. Prefers a sheltered frost-free position.

Morus alba Unryu, or the Contorted Mulberry, is a cultivar that features gnarled, contorted, zigzag branching on a tree but most often grows or is maintained via pruning as a much smaller shrub. It is a rare, and exciting shrub producing edible white fruits, ripening to a purple colour during autumn. Once the lime-green leaves drop, the curled and wavy growth pattern of the trunk and branches is revealed. The contorted mulberry is an incredibly beautiful focal point - perfect for any garden as its lovely white-green blooms attract bees and butterflies, and its contorted, wavy branches attract the eye. Prune in late autumn or winter to avoid bleeding.

Intensely red flowers adorn Aloha Dark Red Mandevilla - a gorgeous plant that can be trained to climb, trail or cascade. Add colour to your garden with this striking flowering vine as the vibrant dark red blooms flower continuously from spring until autumn. They like something to climb up like wire mesh fencing, arbors, trellises or pergolas. Mandevilla enjoy a feed now and again so use either a general purpose controlled release fertiliser in spring and autumn or one of the many liquid feeds. You’ll be rewarded with denser, healthier foliage and increased flowering response. Cut back to desired shape after flowering and they will even respond to a hard cut. Best to do that before winter at the end of their flowering season.

Soil: Plant them in compost-rich, free-draining soil directly in the ground or in a pot.

Luculia Early Dawn is reputed to be one of the best fragrant flowered shrubs with fragrance likened to gardenia and vanilla. It is a beautiful semi-evergreen plant with magnificent large, soft glossy-green leaves. Sizable clusters of delightfully fragrant light pink flowers are produced in early winter. Early Dawn makes a lovely specimen shrub in any garden or a stunning semi-hedge. After flowering prune back to half height and follow up with an application of slow-release fertiliser to encourage new growth and maintain a neat compact habit.

Conditions: Protect from frost in a sheltered, sunny position.

Limonium Dazzle Rocks is a compact, mound-forming, evergreen perennial with sprays of small lavender-purple flowers blooming in abundance on thin stems held above a low-growing rosette of leaves. Also known as Statice, the clusters of long-lasting flowers are a perfect beacon for attracting highly valued pollinators to your garden. A stunning plant in a pot or in the garden, these beautiful flowers look great in a vase, and are wonderful as a dried flower, making this an extremely versatile plant however it is used.

Soil: Well-drained soil. Tolerates soils with higher salinity.

The Philodendron quercifolium is quite an unusual beauty. This exotic philodendron species is well-known for its deep green, segmented leaves. As they mature, their foliage becomes more segmented, and the broad leaves grow narrower. It's a beautiful climbing plant that's great for adding a bit of variety to your home.

Soil: Rich, moist soil. Depending on the temperature, you can water this plant about once a week. Allow the soil to dry before watering.
Conditions: Thrives best in a well-lit spot with indirect sunlight in a home environment.

Lagerstroemia ‘Red Magic’ (Crepe Myrtle) – 200mm
A spectacular deciduous Crepe Myrtle with intense red flowers from summer to autumn. This variety is highly disease-resistant, with rich green foliage that transforms into fiery red and orange in autumn. Its smooth, mottled bark adds interest even in winter. Ideal for small gardens, feature planting, screening, or growing in large pots.

The Weeping Elm is a small deciduous tree with a weeping nature with branches growing down into a gown or umbrella-like canopy. Striking large matt green elm leaves pop out of the buds in springtime. The foliage changes colour in autumn and will begin to shed for winter. A mature specimen makes a striking ornamental feature tree in the garden and is popular as a lawn specimen in parks where there is adequate space for full development. This is a grafted tree - the Camperdownii cultivar is rated at a height of 1.8m.

Soil: Thrives well in most soil conditions providing it has good drainage.
Conditions: Prefers a full sun or part shade position. Tolerant to wind, pollution, coastal conditions and frost.
