The Pixzee is a delightful miniature peach tree that only grows 1.5m x 1.5m whilst producing delicious and juicy full-sized fruits. Dense clusters of rosy-pink flowers are produced in spring and eventually fall to give way to the sweet fruit. This tree is self-pollinating and produces a delicious and super juicy yellow-fleshed fruit with moderate firmness and red skin. The fruits from these trees can be eaten fresh off the tree or used for stewing, preserving jams or cooking. This small size makes them perfect for small home garden or large pots/containers, and easy to harvest all the fruit or cover with a fruit net to protect form wildlife. Peach trees will benefit from annual pruning in winter once the foliage has finished dropping.

If you are looking for a climbing plant with brilliant autumn colour then Vitis betulifolia, or Ornamental Grape Vine, could be the one for you. The new foliage is mid to deep green, and as autumn comes around the foliage turns to reds and crimson creating a great ornamental backdrop. The Ornamental Grape is a variety that does not fruit as much - this has its advantages in that it does not attract birds as readily, and does not drop its fruit as much, so less mess than the fruiting type. Grow it over a pergola as a living shade plant, or along a fence as a screen. Perhaps let it scramble through trees and shrubs as it can provide shade in summer and autumn tones. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring every year or two to help promote growth.
