Deciduous Trees and Shrubs

One of the smallest and latest flowering magnolias, Magnolia Royal Star is a charming, slow-growing deciduous shrub with a naturally spreading, rounded habit. New foliage emerges with a soft bronze tint, maturing to a deep, glossy green before turning warm shades of yellow to copper in autumn. In early spring, masses of fragrant, star-shaped white flowers—around 10 cm across—burst from furry grey buds, creating a striking display on bare branches. Ideal for informal hedging, woodland-style plantings, courtyards, and patio gardens, Royal Star is perfectly suited to smaller spaces. Prune lightly at planting to encourage bushier, vigorous new growth.

Soil: Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. 
Conditions: Prefers full sun but will tolerate a partially shady location. Shelter from wind to protect flowers.

A stunning medium-sized shrub, Yellow Stem Dogwood makes a statement during the winter months with its vibrant golden yellow stems. Easy to grow, this dogwood shows off typical leathery green leaves during the warmer months, and attractive white flowers followed by white berries in summer. The golden autumn foliage drops to reveal its bright yellow coloured stems. The Yellow Stem Dogwood grows well in a sunny to partly shaded position and requires regular watering during hot spells. 

Soil: Prefers cool, deep, moisture-retentive soil
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Needs a sheltered spot protected from drying summer heat and wind. Frost-tolerant once established.
