A uniquely coloured tree, Leucadendron argenteum Silver Tree produces wonderful silver-green leaves with a furry texture. In hot and drier weather the leaves will be more silver. The bright lime-green flower heads appear in spring, followed by large, dark brown seed cones. A hardy, evergreen plant Silver Tree is ideal for cut flowers and superb in the home garden. Prune to shape and size. Avoid disturbing the roots as this can kill the tree.
Soil: Slightly acid, light or sandy soils with added humus that are well drained (as with most protaceae they will keel over if their feet get too wet)
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Coastal and frost tolerant.
