If fairies designed a carnivorous plant, it would be the Sundew. With their glistening droplets that look like morning dew (but are actually bug glue!), these dazzling plants lure in unsuspecting insects like a five-star sticky buffet. With over 190 species, Sundews come in all shapes — from cute little rounds to elegant tentacled stars — each leaf lined with sparkly red hairs that act like living flypaper. When an insect lands for a “taste,” the leaf curls over, hugs it tight, and digests it. (Bon appétit!) To bring out those gorgeous red or pink hues, give your Sundew plenty of sunshine — they love basking in the light almost as much as they love catching bugs. Keep things warm and cozy, between 18°C and 24°C, and don’t be alarmed if your Sundew takes a nap in winter. A little slowdown and some browning leaves? Totally normal — it’s just recharging for its next insect feast.
The Berzelia Buttonbush Rose is a striking architectural shrub prized for its unique texture, form, and floral display. From late winter to spring, it produces dense clusters of creamy-white flowers that gradually blush to pink and red as the season progresses. Its fine, pine-like foliage and soft green stems provide year-round interest, making it as beautiful in the garden as it is in a vase. A favourite among florists and garden designers, Berzelia Rose shines in mixed garden beds, native landscapes, or container displays. When growing in pots, use a native potting mix and fertiliser, and ensure the container has excellent drainage—Berzelia dislikes sitting in water.

A symbol of love, prosperity, and good fortune, the Rose Flame Peony dazzles with enormous, lustrous pink-red blooms crowned with golden centers, set against rich, intricately divided foliage. Hailing from China, the national flower—Tree Peony—is celebrated for its majestic presence, making it a show-stopping addition to any garden. Flowering from spring into early summer, this spectacular perennial thrives after a cold winter dormancy, which fuels vigorous new growth. For best results, feed generously and plant in lime-rich soil to encourage lush, abundant blooms.
Soil: Well-drained soil.
Conditions: Performs best in a dappled shade position, as prolonged full sun can burn flowers and foliage, causing unnecessary stress.

A compact, clump-forming perennial with dark green, lance-shaped leaves flushed dark red, Gaura Rose is a stand-out in any garden. Unlike many gauras, it maintains a tidy habit and won’t develop a wild, wispy look, making it ideal for gallon containers, retail displays, and home gardens. Its long-lasting flowers are highly attractive to butterflies, adding further appeal to this durable and eye-catching garden performer.
Soil: Keep moist until established, mulching at planting time is beneficial.
