Corylus avellana Wanliss Pride Hazelnut produces large round brown nuts enclosed in a thin shell, grown in clusters on the tree. This Hazelnut is a large deciduous tree that produces deep green leaves which change colour in autumn. Wanliss Pride benefits from having a cross pollinator despite it having both female and male hormones they flower at different times. Once fruit falls from the tree they are ready to be harvested.

Hazelnut Barcelona is a vigorous, fruiting bush with large, deeply veined, lance-shaped, green leaves and massed clusters of elongated creamy yellow male catkins and small, magenta, spider-like female flowers in winter. The blossoms are followed by edible, high-quality, delicious nuts encased in slightly elongated shells in late summer and autumn. Whilst Barcelona is self-pollinating, it is recommended to plant two different varieties for satisfactory fruiting. Barcelona can be eaten fresh or cooked.

Cosford Hazelnut is a mid-sized shrub or small tree with green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Flowers are produced early in spring - before the leaves - followed by fruit in clusters. The hazelnut has a roughly spherical to oval shape and is excellent eaten fresh as well as roasting and cooking. Suggested cross pollinators are Wanliss Pride and Red Aveline. Although both male and female flowers are borne on the same tree, they don’t always flower at the same time. Planting different varieties will assist with pollination.
