Lilly Pilly

Forest Flame Lilly Pilly is a hardy, easy-to-care-for plant proving popular for low hedges and topiary work. This evergreen Lilly Pilly is very compact, with bright red new growth which matures to deep green. Small white starry flowers emerge in summer followed by small berries. Both the flowers and berries attract native wildlife adding to their appeal in the Australian garden. Forest Flame responds well to pruning encouraging new growth and depth.

Soil: Tolerates a wide range of soils.

Cherry Surprise is a naturally compact, extremely hardy lilly pilly with striking bright red new growth that contrasts superbly with the older green foliage. A fabulous variety of lilly pilly, Acmena smithii Purple Rain is an absolute showoff with masses of deep purple new growth changing to magenta and green as it ages. Acmena smithii Sublime is an evergreen native tree with vivid lime green new growth which slowly darkens over time. In summer Acmena smithii Sublime produces an abundance of fluffy white flowers that will further develop into edible deep mauve berries. Acmena Orange Crush is a psyllid-resistant variety of Lilly Pilly with spectacular orange-coloured new growth. The glossy foliage slowly matures to a mid-green. Fluffy white flowers appear in spring, followed by purple berries - both are a food source and habitat for native wildlife. Suitable for screens, hedging and topiary, a naturally dense compact growth habit means pruning is not usually required.
