Myoporum insulare Ground Hug is a hardy, ultra-low growing Australian native groundcover valued for its dense, weed-smothering foliage and rapid horizontal spread. In spring, a scattering of small white flowers appears among the glossy foliage, adding subtle seasonal interest. Its naturally spreading habit requires very little pruning while its dense foliage helps stabilise soil and provides effective surface erosion control. Selected for improved tolerance to wet and humid climates, it performs reliably across many parts of Australia. Myoporium parvifolium 'Yareena' is a quick-growing ground-cover suited to a wide range of conditions. It is quite delicate to look at with a fresh stiff green foliage of semi-succulent leaves which are narrow, blunt and thick. The flower clusters are fragrantly honey-scented and made up of white tubular flowers through late spring to early summer. These are followed by globular berries. This attractive low maintenance plant is ideal for filling those gaps, under-planting, cascading down embankments or trailing over retaining walls and raised garden beds.
