Eucalyptus tetraptera is a handsome small to medium mallee, more shrub-like than tree, with an open, architectural habit and smooth grey to whitish bark that sheds in late summer and autumn to reveal a mottled underlayer. Its thick, leathery leaves frame the plant’s most striking feature: large, winged, square-shaped buds that develop from late winter and open to bright red to pink flowers through spring and summer.
