Vaccinium corymbosum Pink Icing™ Blueberry has breathtaking foliage colors and large, robust flavoured berries. Spring foliage has many shades of pink mixed with blue and deep greens, and turns a stunning iridescent turquoise blue in winter. Small, white, pendant, urn-shaped flowers bloom in loose clusters in late spring. The flowers are followed by plump, round blueberries which ripen in mid-summer. Plant this variety in decorative patio pots or in the landscape for year-round color and beauty. This plant sets fruit on the previous year’s canes and will produce new canes each year. Each year, prune only the canes that produced fruit for that year.

The Red Hydrangea is a medium-sized shrub adorned by rich red mop-head flowers throughout spring, summer and autumn. This cottage-garden style plant is particularly useful for semi-shade positions as a feature, screen, mass planting or potted specimen. Red hydrangeas make impressive, long-lasting, cut flowers.

Soil: Well-drained, loamy soil. The occasional top dressing of dolomitic lime will help to maintain its colour.
Conditions: Hydrangeas do not like hot, direct sunlight so plant with morning sunlight and partial shade in the later parts of the day. It is a particularly hardy, deciduous shrub that copes with wind and coastal conditions and tolerates frost to -20C.

Rubus fruticosus Thornless Blackberry is a gardener’s delight — vigorous, productive, and easy to harvest without the worry of sharp spines. These hardy berry shrubs produce masses of sweet, dark purple to black fruits through mid to late summer, following a charming display of white or pink blossoms in late spring. Soil: Well-drained fertile soil. If your soil is heavy or prone to poor drainage, consider planting in raised beds or mounds to ensure good water flow around the roots

It's so pretty, it almost seems impossible that Hydrangea macrophylla Mars exists! Each floret on the full mophead blooms is lushly saturated with deep pink or purple-blue, outlined by a white edge that makes it look like something out of a fairytale. The foliage is very dark green and deeply ribbed, completing the picture-perfect look. A classic choice for including in gardens and landscaping, Mars also makes a nice choice for low hedges and containers. 

Soil: Well-drained, loamy soil. The soil must be alkaline to produce continuous pink flowers, and acidic to produce blue. To increase alkalinity, add garden lime.

An extremely attractive new introduction, Cercis Merlot is a fantastic small tree that shows off rich purple foliage and an improved branch structure than other varieties of this popular and showy family of trees. Clusters of bright pink flowers smother the bare stems in early spring followed by large and glossy heart-shaped foliage in a rich purple to plum colouring in the summer months, aging to brilliant yellow and orange tonings in autumn. Foliage colour will be at its best in plants grown in full sun. Cercis Merlot is highly adaptable and is more tolerant of warmer climates than many other Cercis forms and prefers deep, well-drained soil and a position in full sun or partial shade.

The Snowball Tree, sometimes known as the Guelder-Rose, is grown for its spectacular ball-shaped flowers and the red-coloured berries. The plant produces pure white flowers that are mildly fragrant and look like snowballs. Flowering from the end of winter and into summer, the foliage turns to purplish red during the autumn, offering a good spring and autumn display in the garden. The Snowball Tree grows well in a container or as a hedge, mass planting or specimen in the garden.
