Each floret on the full mophead blooms is lushly saturated with deep pink or purple-blue, outlined by a white edge that makes it look like something out of a fairytale. The foliage is very dark green and deeply ribbed, completing the picture-perfect look. A classic choice for including in gardens and landscaping, Mars also makes a nice choice for low hedges and containers.
Soil: Well-drained, loamy soil. The soil must be alkaline to produce continuous pink flowers, and acidic to produce blue. To increase alkalinity, add garden lime.
Conditions: Hydrangeas do not like hot, direct sunlight so plant with morning sunlight and partial shade in the later parts of the day.
