A cold-hardy deciduous citrus shrub, Flying Dragon is as ornamental as it is practical. This distinctive dwarf form features curving, contorted stems and dramatic twisted thorns — making it ideal for use as a striking specimen plant or an impenetrable security hedge. In spring, it bears small, lightly scented white blossoms, followed by fuzzy, orange-yellow fruit about the size of a ping pong ball. The fruit is filled with seeds and yields around 20% juice. Though the juice is sour, it makes an excellent flavouring, while the peel — bitter yet aromatic — is prized for marmalades and candied peel. Rich in natural pectin, it requires no added gelling agent for jellies. Even small trees can produce hundreds of fruit each season. Its trifoliate green leaves turn a brilliant orange in autumn before dropping to reveal the sculptural, twisted branches that make this tree so unique. The slow-growing Flying Dragon is ideal as a security barrier or privacy hedge, ornamental feature tree, bonsai subject or garden accent. Prune hard to maintain hedge height and density, or selectively prune to showcase its striking, contorted stems.

Meyer Lemon is a compact, evergreen citrus tree prized for both its ornamental appeal and delicious fruit. A natural hybrid between a lemon and an orange, it produces fruit that is noticeably less acidic and slightly sweeter than traditional lemons. The tree features lush, rich green foliage complemented by small, fragrant white blossoms that typically appear in autumn. These are followed by attractive, small to medium-sized golden-orange fruits that ripen from autumn through to spring. The thin-skinned fruit is exceptionally juicy, making it perfect for fresh drinks, cooking, and marmalades. Meyer Lemon is well-suited to gardens, courtyards, and pots. It requires minimal watering during winter but benefits from consistent moisture throughout the warmer summer months to support healthy growth and fruit production.

The Emperor Mandarin is a classic favourite, prized for its rich, sweet flavour and easy-peel skin. Its fruit features a distinctive loose, puffy rind that separates easily from the juicy flesh, making it perfect for fresh eating. Ripening from around June depending on seasonal conditions, it’s considered a mid-season variety and pairs beautifully with the earlier-ripening Imperial mandarin, helping to extend your citrus harvest across many months. This attractive evergreen tree showcases glossy green foliage year-round, complemented by small, fragrant white blossoms that appear in spring. It produces medium-sized, round fruit with deep orange skin and only a few seeds. The Nagami Kumquat is an ideal patio citrus with great foliage, habit and small, bright orange fruit through winter. A beautiful combination of sweet and bitter, Nagami can be eaten whole off the tree. The rind is smooth and sweet - eat the fruit whole or use in preserves, marmalades and liquors. Citrus are well suited to pot culture and it is recommended to use good quality potting mix. Fertilise monthly with a complete, slow-release, pelleted fertiliser all year round. Conditions: Suits a prominently sunny position. Shelter from strong winds. They prefer a frost-free environment although it will tolerate light frost once established.

Lanes Late Dwarf Orange is a neat, compact evergreen fruit tree with rich green foliage that provides year-round colour and structure in the garden. From mid to late July through to October, it produces petite, fragrant white flowers, filling the air with a lovely citrusy scent. The flowers are followed by medium-sized, juicy oranges with thin skin and excellent flavour. One of its great features is its extended cropping period, with the first harvest ripening in winter followed by a second crop in spring. Fortunella japonica Kumquat is a charming small citrus tree prized for its distinctive fruits, which are oval-shaped, brightly coloured, and uniquely edible whole. The sweet rind contrasts beautifully with the tart, juicy flesh, creating a delicious balance of flavours in every bite. The tree itself features glossy dark green, elliptical leaves and bears clusters of small, fragrant white flowers that appear in spring and summer. These blossoms develop into vibrant orange to golden-yellow fruit that resembles miniature oranges. Kumquats are hardy and adaptable but thrive best with regular watering and feeding during the growing season. Fertilise with a citrus-specific fertiliser for best results. Prune after fruiting to maintain shape and encourage new growth.

Conditions: Full sun. Thrives in subtropical to tropical climates. Drought-tolerant when established.
