Xanthostemon chrysanthus is a spectacular golden flowering rainforest tree, and its dwarf variety Fairhill Gold is no less spectacular. The trusses of bright golden yellow flowers are borne in summer and autumn and are magnets for nectar-feeding wildlife. The foliage is attractive when the tree is not flowering, with the leaves being large and glossy on a well-shaped plant. It can be pruned to size if desired and is a perfect tree for screening or a splash of colour in warmer climate gardens.
Soil: Moist, well-drained soils.
Conditions: Sunny position. Suits frost-free areas, and while it can be grown in cooler climates, flowering may be erratic and the plant will be less vigorous.
Size: Height 2-4m x width 1-2m
