Solanum Red Tamarillo, or Tree Tomato, is a fast-growing evergreen shrub with an upright habit, producing fragrant pale pink to white flowers in spring, followed by attractive egg-shaped red fruit from late autumn through winter. The nutritious fruit is rich in vitamins A and C, iron, calcium and magnesium, and can be enjoyed fresh or used in salads, sauces, jams and chutneys. Regular pruning helps maintain a compact shape and encourages productive fruiting wood close to the trunk.
