Pot: 200 mm

Youngberries are a delicious blackberry, raspberry and dewberry hybrid, producing long, vigorous canes and attractive red-purple berries in summer and autumn. The fruit is similar to a boysenberry but slightly smaller, sweeter and shinier, with a soft texture that makes it ideal for eating fresh or turning into jams, pies, sauces, syrups and purees. The semi-upright, almost thornless canes are vigorous and self-fertile, although planting more than one plant can improve yields. Provide a trellis or taut wires for planting. Train the canes upwards to the top of the support, then tie new growth downwards to make the most of the available space and encourage good fruit production. Youngberries fruit on second-year wood. After fruiting, remove only the canes that have already produced fruit, leaving new canes to bear the following season.
