Yellow Cherry Guava is a compact, evergreen shrub to small tree valued for both its ornamental foliage and delicious fruit. Often called Yellow Apple Guava, it produces small, round yellow fruits around 3 cm in diameter with creamy, aromatic flesh and numerous tiny seeds. The fruit is considered one of the mildest and sweetest of the guavas, with a distinctive tropical flavour often compared to a blend of strawberry and pear. Trees begin bearing fruit when less than one metre high and are known to be very prolific producers.ย Typically smaller than many other guava varieties, this rounded, bushy plant features dense, dark green foliage and attractive fluffy white flowers in spring. The sweet yellow fruit ripens from late summer to autumn in cooler climates, while in warmer regions it may produce two crops per year. In cooler areas, planting near a brick or concrete wall can help provide extra warmth and improve fruiting. The fruit is excellent eaten fresh, juiced, added to smoothies or cocktails, and is particularly delicious when made into jams and jellies.
