Plumeria rubra Darwin Blood

Plumeria rubra Darwin Blood is a striking frangipani known for its bold, true blood-red flowers and rich tropical fragrance. A late-season bloomer, it adds vibrant colour and exotic charm to garden beds, borders, or large pots, making a standout feature from summer through autumn. Darwin Blood produces clusters of deep red flowers with gently curled inner petal edges at the tips of its branches, often appearing before the leaves in spring. The highly fragrant blooms are typically seen from November through May, and may be followed by long brown seed pods later in the season. Once established, frangipanis require little water but benefit from regular watering in hot weather, and should be kept dry during winter in colder areas.

Soil: Well-drained soil.
Conditions: Full sun.  In cooler regions, they perform best in containers placed against a warm, north-facing wall where they are protected from frost and cold winds. Drought tolerant.
