A graceful, medium-to-large tree with a naturally pendulous habit, the Pinus patula Mexican Weeping Pine is admired for its long, fine, supple needles and beautiful, textured bark. Mature specimens develop a straight trunk with deeply fissured, reddish-brown bark, lending a rustic, wild charm to the landscape. Its elegant, weeping foliage, interesting cones, and rich red bark make it one of the truly great pines. Growing up to 30 metres tall, it forms a spreading crown that provides soft shade in warm climates. The flowers are inconspicuous, but the large cones that follow add further ornamental appeal. This long-lived tree makes an excellent specimen for larger gardens and parks, or a stately barrier tree on spacious properties.
