Melaleuca thymifolia, or the Thyme-leaved Honey Myrtle, is a dense mounded shrub with small leaves and clusters of attractive and intricate purple flowers produced sporadically all year. When crushed, the small, erect, blue-green leaves are fragrant and ideal for a hedge or screen. Thymifolia likes damp conditions and grows well around ponds or other moist places but otherwise makes a great addition to any garden to attract birds, bees and beneficial insects.

Soil: Almost any soil, no matter how poor, sandy or waterlogged - but it prefers well-drained loam with some added humus.
Conditions: Full sun. Damp, drought, wind and light frost tolerant.
