Widely grown for sensational flowers, Malus ioensis 'Plena' is commonly known as Bletchels Crab Apple. It is a small deciduous tree with a spreading growth habit and masses of gorgeous bright pink double flowers which begin as pink buds. These sweetly perfumed are produced in abundance in spring. In autumn, the leaves colour up to a combination of burnt orange and red before falling. The crab apple makes a fabulous small feature tree in landscapes where space is limited. Prune to shape after flowering.
