The very desirable Magnolia Pinkie cultivar is a cross between M. liliiflora ‘Nigra’ and M. stellata ‘Rosea’. One of the smallest growing deciduous magnolias, it bears stunning cup-shaped flowers of a pink-purple colour, graduating to white near the tips and within these pretty blooms. These are substantial flowers, up to 20cm across, with a delicate perfume that pervades the garden. Attractive and robust foliage turns bronze in autumn. This small tree can be pruned to form a shrub and makes an ideal specimen plant for a smaller garden. It is an excellent choice for large planters.
