Hylocereus megalanthus Yellow Dragonfruit

Hylocereus Yellow Dragonfruit is a vigorous, spreading and climbing cactus prized for its unusual yellow-skinned fruit with sweet, white flesh. Strongly scented, trumpet-shaped flowers are freely produced in late summer, followed by delicious fruit just 4–8 weeks later. The fruit develops small spines on the skin, which often drop away as it ripens. Widely regarded as one of the tastiest dragonfruit varieties, Yellow Dragonfruit is also one of the rarer types seen in Australia. Dragonfruit needs sturdy support as it matures, as its long, succulent branches can become surprisingly heavy. For easiest growing, maintenance and harvesting, plant it beside a strong post or support, or grow it in a large pot with the branches trained upwards before allowing them to cascade down.

Conditions: Full sun. Heat, frost and coastal tolerant.
