A breathtaking cultivar of the Kashmir Cypress, Cupressus cashmeriana Silver Shadow is prized for its graceful, weeping habit and soft, feathery foliage. Forming a broadly conical to slightly pyramidal shape, this elegant evergreen brings a sense of movement and refinement to any landscape. The foliage is beautifully textured, composed of slender, flattened sprays that drape from the branches in a gentle cascade. A soft grey-blue colour defines the mature foliage, while the new growth in early spring emerges with striking white variegation—so luminous it can turn the whole plant silvery-white when young. This seasonal flush gradually softens back to the plant’s characteristic cool tones by midsummer. Cupressus cashmeriana is commonly grown as a specimen in parks and large gardens but is also well suited to being used for screening and shelter on lifestyle blocks.
