Discover the unique features of the Great Eastern camellia, a plant that boasts evergreen beauty and vibrant blooms.. When in bloom, the Great Eastern camellia presents large, striking flowers which may vary in colour, typically showcasing shades of crimson. Each blossom, which can be up to 12 to 15 centimetres in diameter, nestles amongst dark glossy green leaves. Whether planted as a hedge or showcased in a feature pot, the Great Eastern Camellia is a versatile shrub known for its vigour and cold-hardiness.

Soil: Plant in a free-draining soil that is medium to acidic pH, rich in organic matter.  A potting mix rich in humus is ideal, added at the time of planting. It is recommended to create a mound if your garden has clay soils.
Conditions: Sunny or partly shaded position with morning or afternoon sun. It can be grown throughout Australia and is tolerant of both heat and light frost, but may need protection in extreme situations, especially when young. Shelter from strong winds.
